Decision Three: Relax and allow the grieving over Robert to flow until it's run its course. I do get some comfort from a dear old friend, well he's a rather young old friend actually, do you remember my 'toyboy' frog from last year? He has kind of kissed himself back into my life, rather unexpectedly so. He's still 14 years my junior and still very sweet and intelligent and the most fantastic cook!

Decision Four: Self development. As in... develop my skills. Have enrolled in a business studies course at Richmond College and really looking forward to exercising my brain cells a bit more again.

Speaking of exercise... Decision Five: healthy living and regular sports. Have joined a gym and started running, all very gently of course, these old bones haven't had any proper exercise in quite a few years. It's working too, I am losing weight and beginning to feel pretty good.

Girlie weekend! Earlier this year I had won a narrowboat trip to which I am now treating Rachel, Fi, Liz and myself. Two sunny autumn days cruising the river Wey up from Guildford, lots of girlie chat, wine and fun!

Some culture. Last night of the BBC Proms in Hyde Park with a group of friends. It was a clear and bloody freezing night, but we came prepared and wrapped up warmly and had a brilliant evening with some great performances.

When did I leave school? 20 years ago! Good friend Marga and I are invited to the "Liebfrauenschule Koeln" reunion on 28/9. There were lots of academic brains in our class and to be sure: we find ourselves catching up with lots of doctors, lawyers and a couple of judges. All women too because it was an all girl convent school. Despite the broken heart I was actually feeling pretty good about myself and where I'd got to in my life. A very successful and enjoyable get together!
