"Why are humans humans and not trees??" A question put to his mother by my father at the tender age of 3. And: "If I die and become a little angel, will I still know that I am Dieter (his name)??" Perhaps she will now know the answer because, sadly, my dear granny passed away on 13th March at the age of 88. These are extracts from a little diary she left for my father. There are only seven entries, made between 1944-1972... a brief yet very moving account of Germany during and after the war, written by a mother of four whose husband was a prisoner of war until 1948. She was the matriarch of a large family, an actress & radio presenter, a wonderful & charismatic woman. I miss her dearly, but feel strangely at peace. I hope she does, too...

Am I still a flight attendant?? It certainly feels like it with all the travelling I am doing this month: returning from Trinidad on the 8th, then Germany from 17-19, followed by another biz trip on the 22nd to the States and Canada... 2 days Chicago, 2 days Toronto, 1 evening Buffalo, 5 days Calgary. A friend of mine, who is a cargo pilot for a Canadian airline, offers me a free "lift" from Calgary to Vancouver, so I even get to spend a couple of days with friends in my favourite city!
