Two work conferences, one for travel agents in Dublin followed by our annual sales meeting in Frankfurt.
Rachel and I spend the weekend prior to the first with our Irish colleague Vivienne who takes us on a tour of Belfast. I have never been to this troublesome region of Northern Ireland, it is much safer these days, but it still feels grim, not helped by dull and rainy weather. We visit some of the murals that add a curious kind of colour to the grey housing estates. Apparently people have no choice if their house is selected to be painted which takes only 1-2 days but lasts for years. We conclude the day in a trendy Belfast restaurant over an excellent bottle of Spanish red wine.
My third trip of the month takes me to San Francisco - for a date! His name is Tom, he is American (from New Hampshire and relocating to the UK in January) and I like him a lot. We met online in late August and because we cannot wait any longer we decide to have our first date following a conference that Tom attends in California. What can I say ... we spend three magical days together, exploring this magnificent city, Napa Valley and each other ... The weather is fantastic and the company wonderful. Do you know this, when every single moment is perfect? It is like that.
